UI GreenMetric World University Ranking

Universitas Indonesia (UI) initiated a world university ranking in 2010, later known as UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, with the main purpose to measure campus sustainability efforts. This system of ranking was primarily established to provide an online survey to portray sustainability programs and policies in universities around the world.

Based on the above mentioned system, SRTTU ranked 596 among 1050 universities and scientific institutions around the world. At the National level (in Iran), SRTTU ranked 19 which is higher than some well-established universities in Iran, like the University of Tehran (National rank 24), Sharif University of Technology (National rank 29), and Shahid Beheshti University (National rank 43).

It is to be noted that the methodology for GreenMetric ranking is based on six criteria (indicators) as follows (the percentages in parenthesis describe the weighting of each criterion):

1) Setting and Infrastructure (15%)

2) Energy and Climate Change (21%)

3) Waste (18%)

4) Water (10%)

5) Transportation (18%)

6) Education (18%)

Based on an official report, SRTTU’s points under the category of Education is 1225 which is still higher than the other three above mentioned Iranian universities (1000 for the Univ. of Tehran, 1125 points for Sharif University of Technology, and 450 points for Shahid Beheshti Univ.).
