On the memory of Prof. Hossein Zomarshidi

Hossein Zomarshidi (born 26 March, 1939 in Mashhad – died February 4 , 2019 in Tehran) was a Iranian traditional architect. He worked as a teenager under supervision of his father, Haj Mohammad Architect, a skilled architect in Mashhad. He was also studying there until the end of high school.

He had a significant role in the architecture and tiling of the tomb of Khajeh Rabi, Mashhad Green Dome, the tomb of Imamzadeh Mahruq in Neyshabur and the tomb of Sheikh Ahmad Jami in Torbat-e-Jam.

Zomarshidi was accepted to the industerial conservatory in Tehran (Iran and Germany) and studied in the field of construction, simultaneously.  He went to Germany in 1937 and was graduated as a technical teacher in the field of building and training.

He was a member of the Academy of Arts and Faculty of Education of Shahid Rajaee University of Education. Hossein Zamordashidi was elected, in 2007, as Unforgettable Faces by foundation of Iranian Science and Culture Hall of Fame or everlasting names.

He received the 3rd Degree of Knowledge on October, 2009 from the Iranian President and was honored as a Holy Qurans servant, for the creation of the sacred and divine arts of Islamic architecture.

He was honored as the only special guest of the 31st Khwarizmi International Festival. The ceremony was attended by The President Hassan Rouhani and Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mansur Gholami, Sorena Sattari, the Vice President of Science and Technology, and a group of domestic and foreign researchers and researchers at the Symposium in the hall of IRIB International Conference Center.
